today’s wedding.

came across this awesome image from credit seaseme which breaks down the true cost of a wedding.

since most wedding budget literature is based from a decade (or more!) ago, this is perfect modern budget guideline for any new bride! completely share-worthy!

cheers,

home updates.

i never seem to find time to “finish” my house – probably a statement made by most designers – but we are getting there little by little. our tv has been on the ground since ‘coughseptembercough’ in lack of finding an entertainment center big enough to fit the empty space of the large wall in our living room. not only did it need to be wide enough, but it needed height as well.

since i wasn’t finding anything i loved, i gave up & decided to have a custom built in made. they guys had it done in a matter of hours & it looks phemonomal! they had me shaking my head at why i hadn’t done it sooner.

design’s by shanyn & reyna robyn photography.

in february, i posted my personal favorite garters for bride’s to be.

since then Design’s by Shanyn has also started making flower girl dresses.

let me tell you, it’s hard to find a cute dress for those darling little diva’s that isn’t so…dated. she does beautiful work – & custom too! – so if you have an idea in mind, shoot it her way.

also, these absolutely stunning photo’s are shot by her equally talented sister, Reyna Robyn Photography. her work is phenomenal!! she is my favorite international photographer, traveling between australia & the states. she is also just my favorite photographer in general – not bias by any means of course………

cheers,

hue of the week.

the green trend seems to be popping up everywhere lately. and in honor of earth day yesterday, i thought it’d give a little tribute to a few of my favorite green gems.

does it get more fresh &charming then this?

photos: necklace: jcrew – tessellate necklace, earrings: jcrew – bellflower earrings, dress: topshop – tuck neck shift dress, chair: room & board – cruz lounge chair, bag: dooney & burke – dillen pocket satchel, paint: sherwin williams – direct green

cheers,

save the date’s.

late january i had the pleasure of shooting some fun ‘save the date’ pictures for my sister-in-law’s recent engagement!

i am not a professional or even trained photographer by any means – but we hoped in the vineyard & had a blast!

i think i captured a few keepers too.

cheers,

cozy guest rooms.

came across this pin on pinterest and immediately thought it was a must-share! guest rooms can be tricky to furnish & fill, but the talented The Aestate summed it up with these simple rules.

a few of my favorite things:

1) flowers: full flowers like peonies (my fav!), garden roses & hydrangeas.

2) luggage rack: resoration hardware’s ‘avignon‘ is a perfect, versatile choice!

3) waste bin: a must-have but usually an eyesore! make sure this is neatly tucked away, yet still convenient for use – therefore don’t put much $$ into this piece.

4) scented candles: my all time favorite candle – voluspa’s ‘maison blanc - sajio persimmion‘. fresh & feminine without overpowering.

5) tissue’s: can be another eyesore with the floral kleenex box sitting out – but you can easily hide it with a beautiful cover to mimic your decor.

6) alarm clock: no guest likes that neon glow of the digital clock in their face while they are relaxing. try a more subtle route, like pottery barn’s ‘charelston vintage clock‘.

7) pen & paper: stationary is a weakness of mine, i have it all over the house. is my guest room it’s in a neat little basket on the nightstand. my newest indulgence is kate spade’s ‘japanese floral’ paper & pencil set.

8 ) xl robe: nothing like making your guests feel like they are at home more then having something comfy to curl up in.

9) good reading light: dont’ sacrifice aesthetics, you can get great light with something similar to west elm’s ‘industrial task lamp‘.

10) magazines: real simple & house beautiful are great choices. just make sure whatever you do pick is current, no one likes reading out of date magazines!

11) pitcher & glass: to keep it simple, i would make this a bedside carafe – i am currently using this one in my guest room & love it

12) snacks: don’t go overboard. i would maybe include a few little things in a “welcome basket” – small package of nuts, banana, snack bar of sorts.

13) wooden hangers: wooden would be nice, or the non-slip ones would be great too. just don’t throw your old mix-matched collection of plastic & wire ones in there. if you don’t want to put your clothes on those, your guests probably don’t either.

hope this helps solve a few guestroom dilemma’s – feel free to contact me with any questions!

cheers,

im currently planning a few bridal showers for some amazing brides-to-be. bridal showers are one of my favorite events to plan. they are glamorous, feminine, & celebratory with any theme you choose.

an extremely popular trend right now is shabby chic weddings. they can be difficult when hosting that many people for a wedding. vintage is fun but can get very expensive when done right! so why not use it for a shower instead? here are a few of my favorite shabby chic ideas to incorporate into your next bridal shower!

ooo la la!
